Orange you glad you like fabric

Today’s winner of the seven step fat quarter packet gradation from fuchsia to lime green is – #9 comment - blissful Diane who is  giving a lap quilt to her husband for Christmas. It's made of wonderful fabrics I fell in love with at the quilt expo in Madison. It's the first quilt that I've free motion quilted myself. I'm proud of it. Even better, I've managed to make it on days that he substitute teaches so it will be a total surprise! DIANE please email me your address so I can send you the goodies. frieda@friestyle.com
These are my favorite colors.  I know you will enjoy using them to make something festive.
Orange is the kind of color that takes real courage to work with. Do you feel courageous? Tomorrow’s gradation special is all about orange. It is a five step gradation from brown to melon with ORANGE in the middle.

This little landscape was made with a five step gradation from blue to orange, it is featured in my book Fabric to Dye For. The trees are the color of fall.
To enter today’s drawing you need to do two things.
  1. Tell us why you like orange
  2. And Tell us what project you have used the color orange in.

Orange was a color I always avoided until I used it in a small quilt called "Colorplay". I fell in love with orange at that point and lost my fear of it as well!

I love orange - it reminds me of warm sunny days and sunsets. Mixed with other not so vibrant colours gives a real lift to any quilt.

I used orange in an art quilt of fall leaves I made. I love orange and use it where I can.

Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

Orange is my favorite color, it is so happy. Two of the walls in my studio are orange, there is orange in almost every quilt I make. People who know me always identify my quilts because of the orange.

Orange to me is the color for cheerful. I havn't yet used orange in a quilt, but I would love to do so and make a nice fall runner for on my dining room table.. I'm still pretty new to all of this and don't have that many finishes under my belt. I'll get there someday :)

Hmmm, Orange is warm, vibrant and very cheery. The last time I used orange was in a Halloween wallhanging. Tend to be a quilter that uses subdued colors and need to break out of that mold.

I love orange because ditch lilies are one of my favourite flowers. I love pairing it with green. I used orange in a quilt for my little girl's room, because it is her favourite colour.

Orange was usually a color that I avoided until this past year. One of my friends really loves orange and now I'm finding that it's a wonderful warm color that just makes a quilt sing. I'm using it in several of my "little" quilts.

I didn't used to like orange at all, but then I did an exercise on complementary colors, and I chose orange and blue to challenge myself. In that combination, I love orange! I have incorporated those two colors (along with turquoise and black) in an art quilt called "Shelter."

I like orange because it is bright & bold & livens up everything it's used with. I made a quilt for a teenage girl a few years back - the main colors were orange & lime green. It was BRIGHT! Thanks for the chance to win some of your beautiful fabric.

I used a bright orange batik on the first bed sized quilt I made. It has a huge white on white lattice with the bright orange as background (making me think of a sunset), a thin turquoise border (also batik), followed by more orange as the outer border. I bound it with the turquoise. This is a king sized quilt and it makes me think of vacations in the Caribbean.
I have used orange in a couple of other scrap quilts because every quilt deserves a bit of sparkle.

Cheers,
Lunachance

Oh, no. I missed this one! And orange is my favorite color! I used orange in about 50 blocks that I made using Carol Doak block designs. Haven't done anything with them. Yet. But, one of them is my avatar!

I love orange and hear it will be big this year. The first time I got to pick my own bedroom color when I was a kid - orange was my choice. Of course I picked to bright of one and everything glowed a year or so until I repainted it. Thanks!

I really started liking orange recently. I've seen it used alot online as well in my LQS.. It's a happy color as well as it reminds me of the fall and the holidays that follow. I've ised orange when I made my Mom a tablerunner that had pumpkins on it. I've also used it for some flower applique blocks.

Thanks for a great giveaway and a chance to win some Gorgeous fabric. So Beautiful!!

Orange has been a favorite for long time with me. I've used it a lot in Flickr swap blocks because a lot of other people were requesting it too! I love it with gray, aqua, red, yellow, pretty much everything. It's a happy color to me and always looks sharp.
