I love working with color, either I am making the color or putting it in my quilts.
Bare Naked Trees
Here are a few more things to HELP you when you are dyeing fabric.
I use
- Regular measuring units, cups and teaspoons and tablespoons. Not from the kitchen but just for this.
- I use hot water to mix my dyes and a blender to mix them in.
- I use six quart bottles to hold all the dye.
- I use 12 squirt bottles to apply the dye directly.
- I use several flat “platters” made from styro-foam to apply the dye directly.
Don’t you just want to EAT IT UP!!

Yummy! Better than chocolate!
I'm in my "Zone" when I am fabric dyeing. Now if I could just take precautions to prevent those darn sunburned ears I get the next day! :-) Thanks for all your inspiration.
Yes, I do want to eat it up. It's beautiful and makes me happy. A friend and I are going to give dyeing a try this weekend. I've painted plenty of fabric and tried a little microwave dying but don't have a great place to dye -- and she does. Am excited because it will be fun and because we'll be going to the fabulous Summer Arts Festival in Omaha after we're done. Woo hoo!
So gorgeous and summery! I'll eat up a serving or three. :)
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!! I need to send you a picture of my copy of your book. It's pretty funny. I left it outside after my last dye session. I was grateful it wasn't totally ruined!
