The story beneath

While I was in Paducah last week I bought a whole bunch of different black fabrics to discharge. I will sell them at my booth #517 in Grand Rapids at the AQS quilt show in August.

I wanted to try different brands and see which one I liked the best and what better way to get all the different companies fabrics than while I was in Paducah and right by Hancock Fabrics.

I had a big surprise this morning when I washed out this one company’s fabric. Look closely and you will see another fabric underneath.

This is too funny.

I wonder what is under other dark fabrics we may have bought over the years.

I suppose we should all be happy that fabric companies are recycling.

Ha ha...now I am tempted to do a test discharge on all of my darks. I love the effect you got with this one.

It can be yours Gene.
So far out of seven fabrics it is the only one with something underneath.

When we were in Paducah I bought a bolt of PFD fabric--can't wait to begin even in 110 degrees. OK is HOT!

I've heard that fabric companies overdye poor sellers black, but I've never had such an interesting result!

The fabric that was revealed underneath is Summersville by Luci Summers for Moda.

I've heard that manufacturers always overdye fabrics to make their blacks but this is the first real evidence I've seen. I think I need to do some discharging!

rusty bird is right, that fabric was designed by me for moda and it's all of a few months old. i'm not sure whether to be insulted it was such a poor seller they dyed it black, but it's made me absolutely die (sorry!!!) laughing!!!!

Has anyone considered that the overdyes might not be bad sellers but instead ones were misprints. As a fabric seller, I've often see bolt run errors. It would be a great use of that.
