I have been designing and making patterns for over 12 years. Each pattern includes written directions and a full size pattern for ease of use. The pattern directions are well written and easy to follow. Sometimes we need a gentle nudge to get our creative juices flowing. Making a pattern and following directions is just that nudge to spark your own ideas.
