Summer Specials

I leave for England on August 16th. I hope you will check out my Summer Special before I go. I won’t fill any orders once I am on the road.

Summer is in full swing, particularly in my back yard. My garden is in full bloom, but the mosquitoes are keeping me from working out there, so I am busy cleaning and reorganizing my shelves. My Summer Special for the rest of August will be a free fat quarter yard of fabric with every $20 order. Sew Many Places Cruise 2011

Dyeing all the time

I dye a little everyday. I know I've talked about this before, but I thought you would enjoy seeing my process.

I mix my dyes in 4 cup amounts and dye my fabrics either flat on platters on in small containers. I pour left over dyes on scrunched up fabrics. These scrunched up fabrics become some of my "favorite" fabrics. You can never predict how they will turn out.

I like using small lidded containers to dye solid colors. These lidded containers are SO MUCH easier to clean and take care of then zip lock bags. You spend a little more money initially but in the end you are way ahead.

Quilt Expo Madison Wisconsin

Online registration is up and running for this great regional show. If you live in driving distance you should make a plan with your quilt buddies to come to this show. The vendors are great, the quilts are marvelous and the workshops are world class. I will be teaching three half day classes here.

Quilt Expo's 30 interactive, three-hour machine workshops are a great opportunity to learn, practice and master a new technique while creating an exclusive Quilt Expo project.

Register for one or more classes including topics like decorative-stitched art quilts, free-motion quilting, wearable patchwork pins, traditional feathered star blocks made easy, speedy double wedding ring blocks, illusional piecing, no-math appliqué and reversible quilting.

The event's 18 hands-on workshops include needle-turn appliqué, sashiko hand-stitching, raw-edge fusible applique, quilt pattern drafting, beading and silk painting.

Volunteering at Quilt Expo is fun and volunteers receive free admission and parking for the day of their shift.

Docents are especially needed in the quilt exhibits.

Katie Gingrass Gallery

A few days ago a group of SAQAIL/WI members headed up to Milwaukee for a fun day of art. After visiting the MAM museum we headed over to the third ward district, which has many galleries and fun shops. We immediately went into the Katie Gingrass Gallery. And low and behold who should we find displayed but our old gal pal Sue Benner, a SAQA member from Texas.

May 22, 2010–September 6, 2010 Exhibit.

It was fabulous. I was so impressed with the workmanship in all of the pieces and thoroughly enjoyed the display.

MAM is one of my favorite museums, I love the design of the building, and of course who could resist posing with great works of art.
